... I am Keri Jones, the new Youth Volunteering Officer for Blaenau Gwent.
I am really excited to be working with young people aged 14 – 25 to hear what motivates them and to shape volunteering opportunities that will give them the skills and experiences that they want and need.
Volunteering is all about taking the time to think about your community and what part you can play to benefit yourself and others. There are so many voluntary groups across Blaenau Gwent that need the views, ideas and support of young people to ensure that they continue to thrive. The opportunities to gain new skills and experiences are endless…from coaching, cooking, supporting adults and children to photography, helping to organise events and developing social media and digital activities.
Over the coming months I will be working closely with partners, community groups, schools and colleges to raise awareness of volunteering opportunities.
I will also be promoting the Cash4U project that provides financial support to individuals or groups that have ideas for youth led activities that will promote volunteering.
